Our Community
To improve the lives of people across Kenya
To improve the lives of people across Kenya, Airtel has various initiatives in place under ‘Our Community’ sustainability pillar that aims to improve access to education.
Airtel Kenya has so far provided free internet to over 47,000 students in the country and we continue to work with our partners to increase the footprint of this project. More recently, Airtel Africa and UNICEF signed a global shared value partnership worth $57 million to support education and digital learning across all the countries where Airtel has a presence in Sub-Saharan Africa. Through the initiative, Airtel Kenya since 2022 has provided over 65 schools in the country with Internet Connectivity through provision of unrestricted bundles.
In February 2024 we partnered with American Towers Corporation (ATC), to support 50 schools with internet connectivity across the country in a 3-year partnership, this collaboration underscores the commitment to bridging the digital divide while empowering communities in various sub-sectors.
With the devastating effects of drought that were experienced in parts of the country impacting about 23 Counties, as part of our sustainability agenda of supporting communities and those most in need, Airtel donated Ksh 50 million towards the Government’s effort to alleviate the effect of the drought. The donation which was made through the Kenya Red Cross Society was utilized in the provision of food and water support to the affected communities.
